Sunset Youth Orchestra (SYO) is dedicated to enriching children's lives through music. SYO was founded in 1999 by Tatiana Ganenko, a graduate of St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music, a successful and inspirational violin teacher in San Francisco, as well as a frequent performer. The orchestra has performed at the Annual San Francisco Youth Arts Festival at Yerba Buena Gardens, DeYoung Museum and Ardenwood. Each young musician is given an opportunity to play a variety of pieces throughout the school year. The repertoire includes classical music, popular music and jazz. Each child also has an opportunity to perform solo pieces of their choice in recitals twice a year.

No previous experience required. Pianinsts will find that learning an instument and playing in a group enhances piano skills.

We look forward to working with children next year and will be putting together interesting and engaging programs for the coming season.

2006 auditions for new students will be held on Friday, October 6th, 4:00pm at the St. John's Church, 25 Lake Street (corner of Arguello and Lake), San Francisco.

The auditions are open to ages 9-12 and 13-17. We welcome Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Flute, Oboe, Guitar, Clarinet, Bassoon, Accordion, Saxophone, Drums, Trombone, Trumpet, Piano, and Percussion players.
